The famous fantasy fire fighter manga “Fire Force(炎炎ノ消防隊 Enn Enn no Shouboutai)” written by the mangaka Atsushi Ohkubo, the strory finale is coming in 2 more episodes.
This manga series started in September 2015 and the final chapter started in 2020.
There are some rumor about the mangaka(manga artist) retiring from mangaka after this story but it’s not true.
Let me explain why there is some kind of rumor like that is out.
Misunderstood the interview
In one of his interview article, he told that he is all in to this series “as if this is his last work”.
It meant that he is putting lots of effort to this series with no regret or what so ever, but some fans misunderstood that this is his last manga series.
After Fire Force series
He guested on TV talk show back in 2020 and talked about his passion for manga and how Akira Toriyama inspired him,
And because Akira Toriyama’s manga “Dr.Slump” is his roots for becoming mangaka, he said that he wants to write more of comedy based manga after Fire Force.
Also mentioned that he thinks he won’t be writing fantasy story for a while.
So he is clearly looking fowerd for the next series but maybe nothing like Fire Force series or his other famous manga Soul Eater Sereis.
Fast writer
Atsushi Ohkubo writes manga fast and he is never late on publishing.
He even told that he has few stories stocked for publishing, so if something happens to him they can publish for months.
He never misses the deadline so one time he took vacation just to experience how skipping the weakly publish feels like, and to hope other mangaka gets more vacation.
So…
Based on these interviews and talks, Atsushi Ohkubo is healthy, and already has ideas about what he wants to write in next series, I think we can read his next manga series soon.
